Rockabillys Offense Comes to Screeching Halt in First Road Test

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Goats played their first game outside of Jackson in 2025, and it proved to be a tall task as Cape handed the second loss of the season to the Rockabillys 6-1.

The Catfish once again jumped out to an early lead, scoring five in two innings against starter Connor Busson, who struggled with command in his first appearance of the season.

There was a response in the fourth from the 'Billys, as Bradey Moad tagged a double and cashed in a run from Brett Rogers. But the Rockabillys were stifled at the plate, notably striking out 11 times and being held to one hit by relievers Drew Wedgeworth and Walker Brodt over the final four frames.

The Catfish rounded out their all-around display by plating one run for good measure in the sixth, which was more than enough to handle business. Moad and Brooks Jones helped pace the offense for the Goats and reliever Chase Chamberlain put forward five innings of one-run baseball, but it was too little, too late for the away team.

Playing From Behind

The Rockabillys have trailed in some capacity in every single game this season, and have faced deficits as large as eight past the seventh inning. Even with this formula, they still possess a winning record five contests into the season, but a complete performance from the Goats has yet to be seen.

Goats Notes: On deck for Jackson, they play the finale of the three game series versus Cape tonight at 4:05 p.m. in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
