Rockabillys Swept in Doubleheader Against River Dragons

The Rockabillys lost both games of their doubleheader against the Alton River Dragons tonight.

The purpose of the doubleheader was to make up the scheduled July 8 game between the two teams that had been postponed, but the Goats came up short both times tonight. In the first game, the River Dragons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Ethan Rossow and Jackson Blemler drove in RBIs to tie the game at 2. However, a two-run homer from the River Dragons put them back up 4-2, and the Goats' comeback attempt fell short as they lost the first game 4-3.

In the second game, it was never much of a contest, as the River Dragons used two monster home runs to power themselves to a 6-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning. They went up by as many as seven runs before the Goats added on a couple of late runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to bring the game to its final score of 8-3 in favor of Alton.

The Rockabillys fall to 8-7 in the second half of the season and 25-17 overall with the doubleheader losses. They will look to bounce back as they hit the road to challenge the South Division-leading O'Fallon Hoots tomorrow at 6:35 PM CDT.
