Casteel Snags Prospect League Pitcher of the Week Honors

MAHOMET, Ill. - Cooper Casteel was announced as the Prospect League's ArmCare.com Pitcher of the Week, per a league release on Tuesday.
Casteel was given the nod after a phenomenal outing in a 13-12 Rockabillys win on May 30, where he dominated over six innings, striking out ten and issuing only a lone free pass. To go along with the efficiency, he only allowed two River Dragons to reach scoring position. That is equivalent to the amount of innings in which Cooper struck out the side.
Unfortunately, the Rockabillys couldn't secure the junior a win, as a wild seventh inning forced a late Goats comeback. But, there were no gripes with the first outing of the season for the Cleveland, Tenn. native.
Casteel, a left-handed pitcher from Lee University, recorded 77.2 innings pitched with a 3.24 ERA this past season for the Flames. Moreover, Cooper finished with 60 strikeouts to just 21 walks, which is one away from the ideal three-to-one ratio many teams are aiming for with their pitching staff.
