Acton's Huge Night Not Enough as Rockabillys Fall 9-8

O'FALLON, Mo.- Mason Acton was unconscious from the plate but the Rockabillys failed to come through, as they dropped their first contest of the road trip to the Hoots.
O'Fallon scrambled across three runs in the first, and held off Jackson's offense for the first couple innings with some savvy pitching from Hoots starter Kevin Hill. But in the top frame of the third, Ivan Vega smoked a loud lead-off dong to awaken the Rockabillys offense that was previously asleep at the wheel.
Vega's homer opened the door to a Goats long-ball party with three players to celebrate. The second man to waltz in to the function was Webb Watson, who popped an opposite field bomb to trim the deficit down to one in the fourth.
O'Fallon tripled, widening their lead back to two, but it wouldn't last for long. Drew McConnell singled to left center, and Acton crushed his first home run of the season. The kid from Somerset, Ky. hadn't hit a homer up to this point in the year, but boy were the fans in for quite a treat.
Acton followed his first trick with another in the eighth, once again tying up the game. However, a four-run eighth for the Owls would bury the visitors.
Another homer for Mason and a Bradey Moad RBI single attempted to ignite a flame from the ashes of defeat, but sadly the damage control for the home squad was too effective and the opening game in the Show-Me State fell the wrong way.
For My Next Trick
Mason Acton was a magician at the dish, setting a franchise record for most homers in a single contest with three. He also continued his prominence in the final three frames, as he sits with a season batting average of .625 with eight RBI and four runs scored after the seventh inning begins. Along with the performance from the Somerset native, the Rockabillys set a team record for most home runs hit in a single game with five.
Goats Notes: Jackson gets another try at the Hoots tonight at 6:35 p.m. in O'Fallon, Mo.
