Rockabillys Utilize Great Performance from Trey Watson to Shutout Hoots

O'FALLON, Mo.- One of the oldest sports adages goes, "you can't win if you can't score." That's exactly what happened at CarShield Field, as the Goats held off the Hoots offense, riding the coattails of a dominant performance from starting pitcher Trey Watson to win 4-0.

In hindsight, the Rockabillys did more than enough to win in the first inning, when Drake Blackwood doubled to right center field with bases loaded, scoring Bradey Moad and Webb Watson. Then, attention turned to Adriel Vega, who sent a fly ball to center field, adding another on a sacrifice fly.

That three run lead felt like 30 to an O'Fallon offense that was stifled by the pesky Watson. A returner from 2024, the Beauregard, Ala. native delivered eight innings of scoreless ball, racking up six strikeouts in the process. Trey had the Hoots offense living off scraps, as the couldn't even get a sniff of a mistake. Only six base runners found a way on before Watson eventually bowed out, but the damage was already done.

Drew McConnell padded the lead with a single that was more than enough for the Goats to sleep easy, and newcomer Jackson Campbell came in to turn out the lights, as it was sweet dreams on a stress-free victory for the Rockabillys.

Good Changeup!

For the Goats, tonight's shutout of O'Fallon marked the third shutout in franchise history, with the two prior occurring in 2024.

Goats Notes: Jackson has one final road contest tonight at 6:35 p.m. CDT against O'Fallon before finally returning to West Tennessee and Rockabillys Stadium on June 13 against the Normal Cornbelters.
