Rockabillys Enter Five Game Slide After Loss to Cape

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Goats lost a must-win game against the Cape Catfish 8-3, and have now dropped five in a row.
The slow starts have caught up to the 'Billys, who once again trailed early in the game, being down by six runs as the bottom of the sixth approached. It was a rough outing for Matthew Riley, who had a great start to the evening as he struck out three of the first six batters he faced, but then gave up five earned runs the next inning.
Cole Lannom and Mason Clark put forth their best efforts to stop the bleeding, but the damage had already been done.
The comeback attempt from Jackson came in the sixth, with a humungous two RBI double from Ivan Vega, and Cameron Greene plating Vega on a single back up the middle.
Unfortunately, that was all of the offense for the Rockabillys, as they sprinkled around six hits, but very few were timely. For good measure, the Catfish scored two more to secure victory against the Rockabillys.
Fell Short
Unfortunately for the Goats, they needed a win versus Cape to keep their hopes of a first half south division championship alive, and they failed to convert. The finale of the first half is tonight against Cape at 6:35 p.m. CDT in Cape Girardeau. This will solely work as an opportunity for the 'Billys to regain some momentum entering the second half of the season, as they are eliminated from winning the south division for the current half.
