Rockabillys Hold On to Defeat Thrillbillies 5-3

MARION, Ill. - Jackson walked into Marion and, for the first time this season, was able to collect a win in a tense, dramatic showdown between the two rivals.
The Rockabillys struck first in the second inning with Drake Blackwood smacking a solo shot to center. Brooks Jones would follow up with a RBI single to score Ivan Vega, which granted the visitors a two run lead. This lead would not last long though, as Thrillville responded with a pair of runs in the bottom frame.
The Thrillbillies took a lead in the third with a sacrifice fly, but this would be short-lived, with the ensuing inning bringing forth another run on an RBI double from Vega that plated Blackwood.
In the fifth, Jake Maddox would score the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, and Adriel Vega would strike the death blow to the Thrillbillies with a ground rule double to scratch across Bradey Moad.
Pitching performances from the entire staff kept the Rockabillys on top. Jackson Campbell received his first start of the season and only gave up one earned run. Chase Armstrong and Jack Mclaury did well to maintain the lead. Then, in came the closer, Jaxson Lucas.
It was no cake walk for Lucas, as he found himself facing bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth. But, he came through with a humongous strikeout, and proceeded to collect out number three with a groundout to short.
Burst the Bubble
Last time in Marion, the Rockabillys were dominated in the two game set, so it's nice to see the team clicking in one of the toughest environments across the Prospect League. '
Goats Notes: Jackson has another test versus Thrillville tonight at 7:00 p.m. CDT. After this, they only have two remaining games in Marion for the rest of the year.
